At Osmani Primary School, we ran an election to help our students understand and experience the process of a General Election. During ‘Democracy Week’, Osmani School held an ‘Election Day’.  Each child was given the opportunity to elect their male and female School Councillor Representatives and Attendance Ambassadors for the 2015 -2016 Academic Year.

It started with an assembly launch where children learnt about the importance of voting and the freedom of choice. During the week, the candidates campaigned and delivered manifestos before the ‘Election Day’ itself.

Children from Year 2 to 6 voted in a private booth and posted their vote in a ballot box. It was a great experience for the children and they were all very excited to experience a real life election.

Quotes from children;

"it's quite exciting because it feels like a real election"

"I think it's nice because it's fair how the children are elected"

"It feels like the school councillors are important because we have an election"
