Admission to the Nursery

At Osmani, we offer fulltime and part-time Nursery places. We have one admission point in the year – i.e the autumn term. Children born in an admission year e.g children born between 1st September 2013 and 31st August 2014 are staggered in, between September to November, where the oldest children in the cohort for that year start first.

To register your child for a Nursery place, please complete the form below or come to the school and fill out a Nursery Application form. We will also need to see the original copies of the following documentation:

  1. Proof of child’s identity – e.g. birth certificate, valid passport etc.
  2. Proof of residency – e.g. council tax bills, tenancy agreement dated within the last 3 months (please note that bank statements cannot be used for proof of residency)

Pupils admitted to the school will need to complete a starter pack, adhere to a code of conduct, and sign a home-school agreement. Parents are also expected to adhere to the school’s policy on attendance & punctuality, and educational visits/trips.

The school admits children using the admission criteria and guidelines agreed by London Borough of Tower Hamlets. The current policy for nursery places is to prioritise as follows:

  1. children who are or have been looked after by the local authority within one year prior to the admission;
  2. where there are exceptional social/ educational/medical needs for the school applied to;
  3. children with brothers or sisters in the school at the time of admission;
  4. to those living nearest the school.

Please note the length of time that a child’s name has been on the waiting list does not give the child priority over other applicants.

Fulltime places will be offered using the same criteria.

Most nursery aged children start school in our Nursery after their third birthday. Children starting Nursery will usually be visited at home by members of the Early Years team before admission and will be invited for Parent-Toddler sessions in the summer term.

Please note that a place in the Nursery does not guarantee a place in the Reception class.
